How we work

Where we sit in the RIBA stages.

The RIBA Plan of Work maps a project across eight stages. AMF MEP works from Stage 3 to Stage 7: spatial coordination and compliance, technical design, construction, handover and aftercare. These are the stages most often trimmed from a fee, and the ones that decide whether a building performs as designed.

We take appointments at any stage from Stage 3 onward: a Stage 3 compliance package, a Stage 4 to 5 technical design, or a full Stage 4 to 7 commission through to aftercare.

Energy Design Services

Our energy design services are grounded in the rigorous application of building physics, employing advanced IESVE dynamic thermal modelling so that each project meets or surpasses CIBSE TM59 guidelines. We handle the full sweep of compliance work, covering Part L for energy performance, Part G for water efficiency and Part O for overheating mitigation. The designs that emerge are efficient, environmentally conscious and user-centric. Precision engineering underpins every strategy, from Net Zero Carbon Assessments to bespoke energy centre design.

What services does AMF MEP provide?

AMF MEP provides the full spectrum of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health engineering design, together with a dedicated energy design practice grounded in building physics. The offer spans eight MEP services and five energy services. That is thirteen disciplines under one coordinated team. On the MEP side this covers district heating networks, energy centres, building services infrastructure, super-prime residential, home automation, LV-HV electrical systems, BEMS and vertical transportation; on the energy side, dynamic thermal modelling, Part L, G and O compliance and net zero strategy.

Can AMF MEP handle Building Regulations compliance for Part L, Part G and Part O?

Yes. Regulatory compliance is a core part of our energy design offer. We provide SBEM calculations, SAP assessments and EPC lodgement for Part L, water efficiency calculations for Part G, and overheating assessments for Part O. Every assessment is grounded in building physics, using IESVE dynamic thermal modelling to meet or surpass CIBSE TM59 guidelines, so compliance and genuine performance are designed in together.

Can AMF MEP help our project reach net zero?

Yes. Net zero energy strategy is an AMF MEP specialism, guiding projects towards net-zero emissions and wider sustainability targets. Our holistic approach evaluates energy use, renewable energy opportunities and carbon offsetting strategies to deliver environmentally sustainable solutions. This sits alongside Net Zero Carbon Assessments, low-carbon energy centre design with cogeneration and trigeneration, and district heating networks that can draw on renewable and waste heat sources.

Does AMF MEP work on residential as well as commercial projects?

Yes. Our designs are tailored to the rigorous demands of both commercial and residential developments. We also specialise in super-prime residential design, delivering bespoke MEP solutions that blend luxury with technology for the most discerning clients. That residential expertise extends to home automation: intelligent control of lighting, heating, security and multimedia, engineered for comfort and convenience while optimising energy use.
